Beth Bojarski

My medium is oil paints. I apply them to wood surfaces sometimes new, but preferably boards that are weathered and worn. I have used barn doors, cabinets, and slices of tree stumps as my canvas. I have used old boxes, antique brass sprinklers, and rusty metal as my frames. My ideas are developed as I paint which is why I enjoy the process so much. I do not start with thumbnail sketches. I allow the painting to become what it wants to. I create characters as well as the story as I go along.I apply text to most of my paintings. I like that the pieces talk to you. Words can seem so concrete; they can throw into question what you are taking in visually. It adds a layer to be examined.
