Tina Puckett
American Master Weaver Tina Puckett is a self-taught artist who has been weaving for over 25 years.Tina is much influenced by the bittersweet vine that grows locally in the northwest corner of Connecticut where she lives. The character of each piece of vine literally dictates what form each basket, wall sculpture or furniture will take. Tina applies her sense of color and her imagination to the form and weaving and the results are an indescribable dynamic and colorful work of art.Tina studied set designs were she learned the understanding of color and construction. With that knowledge she has created her own technique of weaving called “Dimensional Weave” in which she lays down multiple layers of reeds of different colors, turning her woven work into a multihued textured sculpture. This is clearly seen in the different shades of color that define the petals in Tina’s giant flower sculptures and the mountains in her woven landscape sculpture. With her knowledge of construction, Tina is able to create sturdy tables made on twisted bittersweet legs. She adds a beveled glass surface which allows you to visually appreciate the colorful dimensional weaving throughout the bittersweet frame.Tina’s works have been exhibited in museums, art galleries, libraries and craft show events. Her work has also been featured in magazines, newspapers, books and on television.
