Method of Production and Materials
All of my images are straight photography, printed digitally. I control the entire process, from the photography to the printing. I print the images in my own studio on a large format giclee printer, using archival inks and substrates. My images come in two limited edition sizes, and one small unlimited edition size.
Philosophy
I love images that are simple, graphic, evocative, surreal. I love color. I love images that suggest the essence of the subject, as well as images that evoke different reactions from different people, both positive and negative. While my photographic subjects are widely varied, I find myself repeatedly drawn to nature and wildlife and the impact of man on both.
Bio
I started out as an attorney at a huge law firm in Dallas and practiced law for years. Great job, but unfortunately I was creatively frustrated by the buttoned down, left-brain legal world. That, and I was bored out of my skull. I now photograph full time.
My images have been exhibited and sold at various art galleries and museums and have been published in Professional Photographer, Outdoor Photographer, New York Times, Audubon Nature Calendars, Texas Highways, Texas Parks and Wildlfe Magazine, Photo-Media, the United Nations’ annual reports, National Wildlife, and various other books, calendars, and publications.
My prints have twice been featured on the Bravo Network’s show, “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.” At the 2001 Fotofusion International Photography Festival in Florida, I was chosen by renowned photographer Art Wolfe to receive the festival’s Rising Star Photographer Award.
I have been featured in Professional Photographer Magazine, Photomedia Magazine, and in the book Photo Portfolio Success by John Kaplan. I have won the nationwide World in Focus photography competition, and have repeatedly won or placed highly in the world’s only wildlife photography tournaments featuring $75,000 to $160,000 in prize money.
