Pamela Summers

I am predominantly a ceramic artist who makes wheel thrown vessels. My original designs have evolved over thirty years as a full time artist and potter. I continue to explore new combinations of form, texture and color. My pieces are wheel thrown on the potters wheel. Some are burnished to a buttery sheen, wrapped in foil with Spanish moss, salt and copper crystals. I then Raku fire each piece to 1500 degrees producing warm earth colored pinks and oranges. Others are Raku fired to 1800 degrees producing colorful and lustrous glazes. I work with pure, elegant thrown forms. One of the reasons I have chosen this three dimensional medium is that I have no depth perception. Creating actual volume on the potters wheel makes me feel I as though I am creating my own vision of depth perception.
