In my work, I explore the relationship between function and daily aesthetic experience. Each piece—whether a mug, vase, or teapot—is designed not only for use but to become part of meaningful daily rituals. I believe handmade pottery can transcend utility, serving as a bridge between beauty and experience. My process balances mechanical precision with the tactile nature of clay. Through carving and surface design, each form evolves into something both functional and expressive. The resulting pieces carry a distinct design language where structure and ornament coexist in harmony. The visual patterns and motifs on my pottery draw inspiration from Art Deco geometry, Mid-Century Modern simplicity, and the intricate detailing of Victorian design. This blend of influences allows my work to engage in a dialogue between tradition and innovation. Each piece is a vessel for memory and emotion, meant to be used, touched, and lived with. My hope is that my pottery enriches daily life—offering moments of reflection, beauty, and connection through the simple act of use. —Matt Conlon
