I have learned my craft from the three generations of my family. My teacher was my father who I began watching and playing with clay at 7 years old. My Godfather was his teacher and the Nicoya Indian master of my village. When I was about 16 I began to innovate design and use of color that would identify my own personal style. I still use indigenous pigments, use the traditional burnishing stones to polish the clay pots, however the designs are infused with contemporary energy. I do like reflecting back to cultural influences and blending my styles to create work that represents the old and new I am proud of my cultural heritage and am glad to have the opportunity to enhance what I have been taught
