My present work is a result of several disciplines I garnered over a 30 year span which include sculpting, welding, fabrication, conceptual design and art gallery manager. I have incorporated all my skills into this work and its presentation. As such, it has been a very gratifying and rewarding experience and a tribute to my mentor the late Russian ceramists Georgi Tudzarov.
The process begins with vintage photography that is iconic, nostalgic and madcap. These images are printed on archival canvas. The figures are sculpted in clay to juxtapose with the image in the picture. The figures are cast using a technique called cold cast bronze. The aluminum I beam is cut, bent, and welded, and then powder coated in a special oven at 400 degrees. Lastly, the three pieces are assembled and presented to offer the viewer a three dimensional retrospect .
