My work seeks to invite people to transcend the function and utilities of everyday life by interacting with creativity and beauty. This invitation is accomplished through the transformation of discarded propane tanks into interactive sound sculptures. These pieces combine the beauty of heat treated steel with therapeutic and intuitive elements of music theory to create an easily played sound sculpture.
I view the transformation of used, imperfect, and discarded propane tanks as an allegory of the creative human drive that seeks to transcend our broken imperfections and discover a space of wonder and possibility. Many pieces incorporate original poetry that explores the tension between beauty and our imperfect condition. Patrons moves past the mere observation of beauty as the individual adds their own creative voice to an easily accessible sound sculpture. https://vimeo.com/863010246?share=copy
