In the past twenty years, my goal as I create each individualistic lathe-turned form, is to maximize the beauty of the form to the beauty of the materials being used. Utilizing sawn lumber, unusually grained burls, and logs straight out of the woods, I blend together classic traditional lines with designs of my own invention to present an aesthetically pleasing form. In addition, each peace is a study in the relationship of positive and negative space; for the space surrounding each piece is as equally important to the piece’s statement and visual impact, as is the form that I have chosen to remain.
