I am a fiber artist specializing in both decorative and functional works, using ancient felting techniques. My artistic journey combines a deep admiration for nature’s intricate beauty, a foundation in classical arts such as oil painting and drawing, and a passion for sculpting. Each piece I create is unique and meticulously crafted using hand agitation, soap, water, and carefully selected sustainable fibers, including sheep wool, silk cocoons, flax, and raw lamb’s fleece sourced from local farms. To achieve rich textures and patterns, I layer and shape these diverse fibers, each contributing its own qualities. I employ the shibori dye technique with non-toxic or plant-based dyes and add final details by hand-painting with a brush. My artistic goal is to capture the essence of micro details and textures while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability throughout the creative process, from materials to techniques. For me, fiber felting is a harmonious fusion of fine art and craft, blending elements of sculpture and painting with the functional possibilities of fiber art. This approach allows me to explore limitless creative possibilities and bring imaginative concepts to tangible life. Through my work, I aim to reflect a profound appreciation for nature’s beauty and a dedication to preserving it through sustainable artistry. Currently, my work is featured in CraftTexas 2025, a juried exhibition at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.
