Heather Sanchez

Personal thought and its relationship to our environment is what has influenced my current body of work. Our mind goes through constant analysis, judgment, questioning and reflection as we digest our surroundings. From our waking moments our mind generates a constant torrent of internal language influenced by friends, family, media, and literature among other things. The underlying collage of images, text and color in my work replicates this stream of ideas that continuously flows through our minds. Fortunately there are moments of peace, of calm, of joy instigated by images of great beauty, the uncomplicated nature of our environment, or an endearing memory of our past. The final image I choose, whether from a childhood experience, a natural artifact, or a simple moment in time is able to release us from our mind’s constant analysis and invite us into life’s simplicity.
