My work reflects the spiritual side of my life, “chasing the light” at sunset or sunrise. In these fleeting moments of breath-taking beauty, I find what I call “God-Light” reminding us that we are not alone, even amid the failings and tragedies around us. My goal is to capture that God-message and instill in my paintings the wonder and peace I feel at these special times of day. Each of my paintings is a unique piece of art, carefully contemplated and thoughtfully worked. Whether small or large, great care has gone into each one. I have no shortcuts to my painting style, no formulas, just pure original ideas. You may see commonality of the artist’s hand, my hand, which holds my body of work together.Pastel is fun — immediate color choices built layer upon layer. Each element of every painting contains at lease five or six layers of differing pastel choices that interplay to create form and depth. To begin, I create underpaintings, either in solid color, or as an abstract pattern of basic shapes that provides a road map of where I will go in developing the painting. Recent work with textures in the underpaintings has opened up a whole new world of color layering and depth. Then I jump in and the fun begins in developing my vision into a unified whole.
