Doug Remien

I was only six years old when I saw Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, though I remember it as if it was yesterday. Both awe inspiring and enlightening, this early experience would be foundational. Throughout my life nature has been my best friend. When I’ve needed comfort or a sense of truth or serenity, I’ve always known where to turn.

These moments of solace nurture my spirituality. And as an artist, I use photography to communicate this. By inference, my images aren’t intended to record a literal moment in time, but rather the emotion or experience of the moment. It’s through my imagery I hope to teach people why their spirit needs nature.

All my work is self-produced without assistants or apprentices. While on location the images are captured with one of three film cameras: a Pentax 67-11, a Fujinon GX617, and a Wisner Field 8 x 10, ( In layman terms the Pentax has a transparency film size four times larger than 35mm, the Fujinon is 12 times larger and the Wisner is nearly 60 times larger!) The post capture process is completed as a n Ultrachrome Pigment print chosen for its unparalleled color, resolution and archival characteristics. All photographs are sold and sign and numbered limited editions.
