I am a printmaker. I try to create an evocative visual narrative with each print. Using my own drawings as well as vintage photographs and other old paper items, I design images portraying historical or personal stories. I make an etching plate that I ink and print by hand on a flatbed press.
After each print is dry, I have color them and often add other elements including drawing, paper ephemera or small objects.
In addition to limited edition prints, I also produce monoprints that become the foundations for one-of-a-kind drawings and collage works.
I want my art to showcase the enduring strength of women, so I often depict pioneer women, suffragettes, cowgirls and women aviators in my work, as well as other images of women who exhibit a sense of “attitude” and humor.
