Most photographic images are talked about as capturing a moment. These surreal and complex images are meant to encapsulate an entire psychological history… all time within the image, complete worlds meant to be encountered, explored, and experienced. Whether these worlds are dream-states, visions, nightmares or psychic in nature, the symbolism and iconography are meant to be experienced uniquely by each person who encounters them. These images are meant to invite the viewer to return again and again to uncover new clues, new depth, and new meanings but these images can never be fully resolved. There is always something left over for future encounters… always something to think about later.
A surreal mash up of various lived themes such as cataclysmic upheavals in nature that feel like events dealing with vast amounts of layered time, excavated events existing in some deep consciousness and brought to light by photographs carefully layered, carefully mixed and blended with traditional fine art paintings, graphics and 3D imagery. This can be almost overwhelming. It is as if we can stand outside our time to experience the weight of time immemorial. The color and texture of my original large format surreal images are often displayed on alternative substrates such as silk or satin and then embellished by hand.
Welcome to my world!
