Bala Thiagarajan

Born and brought up in India, I have a passion for colors and patterns inspired by the Indian culture. I create free-hand textured paintings by piping acrylic paints in the style of henna body art on canvas in an attempt to capture the temporary nature of this art onto more enduring surfaces. I paint intuitively – the symmetry of the paintings comes from a meditative practice of organic repetition, with the finished paintings full of rhythm and color.
