My artistry in glassblowing explores both the opacity and transparency of glass color. This past year, my approach to glass color selection was completely inspired by vintage color combos from home interiors of the 60’s & 70’s. In order to showcase color through the use of bold patterns, I was drawn to use a centuries old technique of hand stretching glass colors into canes that are then cut, heated and hand blown to create pattern adorned vessels. The patterns often dictate the shape using heat, gravity and a lot of turning to create a unified concept of form and color.
