Pamela Summers

I am predominantly a ceramic artist who makes wheel thrown vessels. My original designs have evolved over thirty years as a full time artist and potter. I continue to explore new combinations of form, texture and color. My pieces are wheel thrown on the potters wheel. Some are burnished to a buttery sheen, wrapped in foil with Spanish moss, salt and copper crystals. I then Raku fire each piece to 1500 degrees producing warm earth colored pinks and oranges. Others are Raku fired to 1800 degrees producing colorful and lustrous glazes.I work with pure, elegant thrown forms. One of the reasons I have chosen this three dimensional medium is that I have no depth perception. Creating actual volume on the potters wheel makes me feel I as though I am creating my own vision of depth perception.
