Making pottery fulfills an inherent drive to continually create and work with my hands. Ceramics is a continually evolving exploration of form, surface and technique. I make wheel thrown porcelain. The concepts of my work revolve around the idea of functionality and daily use. My approach to working with clay could be described as mechanical, precise, and inventive. Most of my work is wheel-thrown. After the work is produced it is carved to create design on the surface. The designs and imagery which are integrated into the forms have become a hallmark for my pottery. I am inspired by historical and contemporary designs and patterns that frequently evolve through the process of making.
