My wearable art clutches are truly a contemporary craft endeavor. I am continually inspired by the challenge of creating a seamless dialogue between materials, between shapes, textures and colors. I revel in the potential of a blank tan leather cowhide to become a hand-carved and hand-dyed whimsical creation, expertly stitched to an endless array of retro to modern upholstery fabric patterns. Take it one step further, and play on both color and shape by adding a hand-patinated copper disc, an engraved and stained patch of wood, or rare up-cycled vintage findings or beads. The result is a truly distinctive combination of both contrast and complementation.
