Bethany Klein

I view nature as one of the greatest teachers. It demonstrates a life that is grounded and organic, helping us better understand the important things in life. My body of work highlights North American wildlife and landscapes. The creation of my paintings starts with brewing black coffee with baking soda to remove the acidity. The coffee is the foundation of my work while charcoal and pastel provide depth and accent colors. This process consists of building up many layers to establish the desired detail and richness. My ultimate goal is to reconnect the viewer to the outdoors and ignite a new sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world.
