Transportation tips, street closures, new attractions, updated MAIN ST. app, and more
FORT WORTH, Texas (April 8, 2019) – On April 11-14, 2019, tens of thousands will arrive in Downtown for the 34th annual MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival (MAIN ST.) to enjoy art, music, food and culture. Throughout the weekend, nearly 230 juried artists will sell an estimated $4 million worth of art, more than 50 musical acts will take the stage, and dozens of restaurants will serve up local cuisine. With MAIN ST. crowds growing larger every year, festivalgoers are encouraged to plan ahead by reviewing the street closures, taking advantage of the recommended public transportation options, and downloading the MAIN ST. mobile app.
- Trinity Metro – Bus routes 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 46, 89, TEXRail, and Molly The Trolley will operate normal service schedules to Fort Worth Central Station, previously named the Intermodal Transportation Center. Dubbed as the “Welcome Center for MAIN ST.,” Fort Worth Central Station is located only two blocks from the festival at 9th and Jones Street. - Trinity Railway Express (TRE) – The TRE train will operate all four days of the festival, including a special Sunday service. Adult round-trip fares start at $5, and youth round-trip fares cost $2.50. Traveling on TRE from Dallas County will require a regional pass. - Fort Worth B-Cycle – North Texas’ first bike sharing system, Fort Worth B-Cycle, has 14 bike-sharing stations within walking distance to the festival. Rates start at $8. For more info, visit BCycle.com.
MAIN ST. 2019 APP
The MAIN ST. app, available for both Android and iPhone users, allows festivalgoers to access entertainment schedules, bookmark favorite artists, and read artists’ bios. The app also contains navigation tools to help patrons find performance stages, booth numbers, family-friendly activities, and food and beverage vendors. NEW FOR 2019
- MAIN ST. Creates! Maker Zone – A revamped kids’ area with a new maker-focus is in-store for 2019. Now called, “MAIN ST. Creates – Maker Zone!,” it offers children of all ages opportunities to embrace their creative side with a focus on invention, innovation, creativity, and curiosity. Located at the northern end of Main Street across from the Tarrant County Courthouse, the outdoor arts, crafts, and makers studio will offer invention stations, a LEGO zone, a butterfly habitat, happy city design activity, face painting, and more.
- Cliburn in the Classroom – Located between 1st and 2nd Streets, the Van Cliburn Foundation will offer its Cliburn in the Classroom program, which introduces young audiences to classical music. In addition, the Cliburn’s grand piano will be brought outside for festivalgoers to play.
- Wine Experience – Presented by Chloe Wine Collection and Sundance Square, the new Wine Experience will offer stand-up flights of Chloe and Imagery wines hand-selected by a veteran sommelier. Tasting sessions will take place all four days of the festival in the Sundance Square Pavilion, and those who purchase a flight will receive a free wine glass. Individual glasses of wine will be available for purchase. To further enhance the experience, participants are welcome to have food delivered from the Flying Saucer.
- Sundance Game Off Main – For a chance to win Sundance Square gift cards, festivalgoers can compete in the first-ever Sundance Game Off Main. Participants will pick up a game card at the Sundance Square information tent in Sundance Square Plaza and visit four of the listed retailers to receive a stamp. Winners will be drawn each hour throughout the festival.
- Free eye health screening – On Friday, April 12, the Alcon Foundation will conduct one-day-only, free eye vision screening sessions at the Alcon Foundation tent on 5th and Main Street.
- WeWork raffles – At various points during the weekend, Downtown Fort Worth’s newest coworking space will be raffling off free office space packages at its new Sundance Square location. Register in their tent in the Sundance Square Plaza.
Parking will be available throughout Downtown for those who choose to drive. Visit www.FortWorthParking.com to view all available parking prior to arriving at MAIN ST. In addition, many streets will be closed beginning Monday, April 8, through Monday, April 15. Monday – Monday closures will include:
- Main Street from 2nd to 3rd Street
- Main Street from 5th to 9th Street
- 9th Street from Houston to Commerce Street
- 9th Street from Commerce to Calhoun Street
- Houston Street northbound lane from 9th to 11th Street (closed to all but local traffic)

Tips to remember when heading to Downtown Fort Worth for MAIN ST.:
- Artist booths close at 8 p.m. Thursday – Saturday, and at 6 p.m. Sunday, so festivalgoers are encouraged to come early.
- Pets, including dogs, are not allowed (with the exception of service dogs).
- Coupons are required for festival food and beverages, and some MAIN ST. Creates! Maker Zone activities. Coupons cost $10 for a strip of 10, and festivalgoers can purchase coupons in advance, online and in-bulk at a reduced price.
- Over 70 Downtown restaurants are open throughout the week with breakfast, lunch and dinner options, at all price ranges.
- People’s Choice Award: Festivalgoers can vote for their favorite Merit Award-winning artist on MAIN ST.’s Facebook page starting April 12.
- MAIN ST.’s commemorative poster, designed by Dolan Geiman, can be purchased at the online festival store for $20, or at the merchandise booth in Sundance Square Plaza.
- Attendees are encouraged to stay hydrated by filling up at one of the festival’s three free water stations, presented by Frost. Attendees can bring their own water bottles or purchase the MAIN ST. commemorative bottle for 10 coupons.
- The festival map and Downtown parking map can be downloaded off the MAIN ST. website. The maps are also accessible through the MAIN ST. app.
