Patty Lindbloom-Schwegmann

I have created this work using porcelain clay and sterling silver. Each piece of porcelain is hand formed and painted with ceramic oxides. Some of the porcelain pieces are carved after painting to reveal a color underneath, or to provide a certain shape. These porcelain “stones” are then fired in a kiln to a temperature of 2400-F, at which point the clay has matured and is extremely durable.

I then create a custom silver setting to fit each ceramic stone. I primarily use sterling silver and a variety of techniques, including roller printing, hammering, drilling, sawing, and soldering. On most pieces I use a durable black patina and then remove the patina in certain areas to provide additional interest to the piece.
