Making pottery fulfills an inherent drive to continually create and work with my hands. Ceramics is a continually evolving exploration of form, surface and technique. I make wheel thrown porcelain. The concepts of my work revolve around the idea of functionality and daily use. I am inspired by contemporary usage issues. Many of my forms address a shift in the way people interact with objects. My approach to working with clay could be described as mechanical, precise, and inventive. Most of my work is wheel-thrown and sometimes altered. After the work is produced, it is carved to create design on the surface. The designs and imagery which are integrated into the forms have become a hallmark for my pottery. I am inspired by historical and contemporary designs and patterns that frequently evolve through the process of making.
