Joel Anderson

I use film cameras and print everything myself in a traditional wet darkroom using classic methods, including hand-painting solutions and other toners onto selected areas with brushes before applying sepia toner. This illuminates the designated areas in a sepia wash while the rest of the image stays silvery black and white. These photographs are from my long-term project Sanctuary, creating expressive images of animals at sanctuaries and showing their individual personalities. A portion of each sale is donated back to the refuge. Each photograph was taken with large or medium format film cameras & used only the available light and backgrounds. None have been digitally altered. All are strict limited editions, matted with 100% cotton museum board and framed by me. Video link showing my darkroom process https://youtu.be/Dovl7rZGARM
