Bob McNally

These are unique handmade instruments of my own invention (they are not traditional designs). They are designed to provide new musical functions and new sounds that are not available with traditional instruments.

My intention is to appeal to the eye as well as the ear, to design instruments for both players and non-players, and to bring more people into making their own art through playing music.

I employ non-conventional construction techniques that I developed (such as one piece neck/body and cold-formed soundboxes). Some of my techniques have subsequently been adopted by the musical instrument industry. The acoustic factors are optimized for each design to produce unusual volume for their sizes and exquisite tone. Fine tonewoods (Spruce, Padouk, Koa, Maple, Rosewood) are used throughout.
