Driftwood are the base or starting point of my sculptures. I sanitize and seal it before combining multiple pieces or creating a sculpture from one piece. Positions for light sockets are chosen and the wiring harness is fabricated. I construct the sculpture’s framework structures using various sizes of willow cane. The cane is steamed and hand shaped then drill into the wood. Once the framework is complete, between 15 to 20 layers of acid free paper are laminated over each other to form the shade. I use natural quartz to reflect the light and I use welded aluminum or steel for bases on some sculptures. Always fascinated by the beauty of nature I want to create art from pieces of nature and Mother Earth to bring them back to life. My light Sculptures represent a reminder of the magnificent light that resides within each being on this planet.
