Contest Overview

The mission of the art contest is to allow Fort Worth senior art students to express their vision of what they consider to be Fort Worth Beauty in 2-D form.  The artwork must express a positive, non-political, non-threatening concept that focuses on the beauty of our Fort Worth culture and city.

CASH PRIZES – The First, Second, Third and Fourth place senior art student winners will receive cash prizes: First Place = $1,000, Second Place = $750, Third Place = $500, Fourth Place = $250

Size Requirements for all 2-D Division Art Entries must be 11” X 14”.  

In addition to the cash prizes awarded to the top four art students, the final round of 50 Art Entries will be displayed at the 2025 Main St. Arts Festival in the Makers Zone area during the arts festival, April 10 – 13, 2025. Immediately following the Arts Festival, the 50 placing Art Entries will be exhibited at Fort Worth Museum of Science and History as part of a special exhibit.  This is a true resume builder!

JUDGING: All artwork submitted during the Fall of 2024 and will be juried to place each piece of art.  The top 50 placed artwork will advance to the final round held at the 2025 Main St. Arts Festival.  All entries will be judged on artistic merit, creativity and their expression of the theme and subject matter. ELIGIBILITY: Participation in the Art Contest is limited to any Fort Worth and surrounding Tarrant County Texas students who are currently enrolled in a Texas Public, Private, Charter or Home School in grade 12.

IMPORTANT DATES & DEADLINES

  • September 23, 2024, the link for the Art Entries (entry form and digital images of the artwork) will open up for artwork submissions.
  • Art Entry Online Deadline: 5:00 p.m., Saturday, November 15, 2024. No Late Entries will be accepted. The link will be available at the MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival website beginning 9/23/24: https://mainstreetartsfest.org/experience-main-st/main-st-creates/
    • Online Entry Form must be completed by November 15, 2024, with the Artwork pictured in digital format, attached, for the Jury review.
  • Once the artwork is presented to the Jury, and the top 50 placing artwork is chosen, the senior art students and their teachers will be notified of their place in the Art Contest by December 16, 2024 via email and/or telephone using the contact information indicated on the online entry form.
  • Saturday, April 12, 2025 – The Awards Ceremony for the First, Second, Third and Fourth Place winners will be held (Invitation Only) at the MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival in the Makers Zone.
  • April 15, 2025 to June 1, 2025: All 50 students will have their Artwork exhibited either in person or digitally on screens throughout the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, 1600 Gendy Street, Fort Worth, TX 76107.

Contest Rules and Policies

Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives, Inc., with its home office located at 777 Taylor Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76107, is a nonprofit corporation organized and existing under the laws of Texas, has created an art contest for High School Senior art students in Tarrant County Texas, entitled Fort Worth Beauty.  (hereinafter referred to as “Art Contest”)

DEFINITIONS: The following terms shall have the following meanings within these Official Rules. Any other specific terms will be defined within the text of Entry Form, Release of Liability & Indemnity Agreement. DFWII – means Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives; Art Contest – means the Fort Worth Beauty Art Contest; Art Entry – means the Illustration of a two-dimensional work of art submitted to the Art Contest; Exhibitor – means the artist of the Art Entry submitted in the Art Contest.

The First, Second, Third and Fourth place winners will receive a cash prize (payable to the art student via check). First Place = $1,000, Second Place = $750, Third Place = $500, Fourth Place = $250

IMPORTANT DATES & DEADLINES – Art Entry Online Deadline: 5:00 p.m., Saturday, November 15, 2024. No Late Entries will be accepted.  Online Entry Form must be completed by November 15, 2024, with the Artwork pictured in digital format, attached, for the Jury review.  Once the artwork is presented to the Jury and determined to be placed in the top 50, the Exhibitors will be notified of their place in the Art Contest by December 16, 2024 via email and/or telephone using the contact information indicated on the online entry form.

Delivery of the 50 Pieces of Artwork for Exhibition:  Only the Artwork placing in the top 50 should be brought to the Downtown Fort Worth offices, for exhibition and judging at the MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival, starting on Monday, March 24, 2025, during regular office hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Artwork must be dropped off by Friday April 4, 2025.  Any Art Entry received after deadline will be considered ineligible for submission to the final Judging for First, Second, Third and Fourth place. All Artwork delivered must have Exhibitor’s (Student) name, school name, teacher’s name, medium used and the title of the Artwork on the back of the Artwork.  The Awards Ceremony the First, Second, Third and Fourth Place winners will be held (Invitation Only): Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Main Street Arts Festival, Makers Zone area, and is for the Senior students whose Artwork wins 1st, 2nd or 3rd place; their parents and their teachers.  All 50 students will have their Artwork exhibited either in person or digitally on screens throughout the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, 1600 Gendy Street, Fort Worth, TX 76107.

SPECIAL RULES, GUIDELINES AND REQUIREMENTS OF ART ENTRIES READ CAREFULLY. AN ART ENTRY WILL BE DISQUALIFIED IF IT DOES NOT ADHERE TO THE RULES AND GUIDELINES.

Authorship, Plagiarism, Infringement: The student and parent/legal guardian must sign the Entry Form, Release of Liability & Indemnity Agreement wherein the Exhibitor and his or her parent/legal guardian make certain representations and warranties with respect to the Art Entry. All Art Entries must be executed solely by the Exhibitor submitting the Art Entry and be the original work of art of the Exhibitor. Parents/legal guardians, family members, friends and teachers must not assist in the execution of the Art Entry. By entering the Fort Worth Beauty Art Contest, each student undertakes to present original artwork that has been created by her or himself in its entirety.

Judging: Once advanced to the final round, the Exhibitor’s Art Entry will be judged by a panel of art professionals. All entries will be judged on artistic merit, creativity and their expression of the theme and subject matter.

ELIGIBILITY: Participation in the Art Contest is limited to Fort Worth and Tarrant County Texas high school senior art students currently enrolled in a Texas Public, Private, Charter or Home School in grade 12. Exhibitors must have a valid social security number.

Each Exhibitor may enter one (1) Art Entry.  No more than one (1) student may work on a single Art Entry. Each Art Entry must be titled and list the medium(s) used. DO NOT LAMINATE, USE ART SLEEVES, SHRINK-WRAP OR FRAME ART ENTRIES. PLEASE COMPLETE THE ONLINE ENTRY FORM BEFORE YOU TURN IN ART ENTRY. DO NOT ATTACH ENTRY FORM TO ARTWORK.

Size Requirements for all 2-D Division Art Entries must be 11” X 14”.  Art Entries not meeting size requirements will be disqualified and will not be displayed.

EXHIBTIION OF ARTWORK AT FORT WORTH MUSEUM OF SCIENCE & HISTORY:  Immediately after the Arts Festival, the 50 placing Art Entries will be exhibited at Fort Worth Museum of Science and History as part of a special exhibit. As the sole and exclusive owner of all rights (including copyrights and other intellectual property rights) in and to the Art Entries submitted to this Art Contest, DFWI may reproduce, publish, display and otherwise use Art Entries in any media and for any purpose, including, but not limited to, DFWI’s use in promotion of the Art Contest and/or the Main St. Arts Festival.

AWARDS NOTIFICATION, PRESENTATION & RECOGNITION Notification: Exhibitors of placing Art Entries will be notified if they placed in the top 50 by December 16, 2024 via email and/or telephone using the contact information indicated on the online Entry Form. Art Entry placings of First, Second, Third and Fourth will be notified and invited to attend an  awards ceremony held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the MakersZone at MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival.

ART ENTRY PICK UP: The top 50 placing Art Entries must be claimed in person on Monday, May 27, 2025 to Thurs., May  30, 2025 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at a location to be determined before 4/4/25. EXHIBITOR AND HIS OR HER PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN EXPRESSLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT ANY ART ENTRY NOT CLAIMED BY FRIDAY MAY 31, 2025, WILL BECOME THE PROPERTY OF DFWI AND MAY BE DISCARDED. ART ENTRIES MUST BE CLAIMED IN PERSON or by someone authorized by one (1) of the following: parent/guardian, teacher, or student. NO ART ENTRY WILL BE RETURNED BY MAIL
