Vic Lee

Oddly enough, I don’t think of myself so much as an artist, but as a messenger. I use my paintings as a medium from which to share and express the revelations of my experiences and studies. My evolution if you will. Like a musician, the lyrics are the important aspect of my work and the paintings are like catchy melodies that capture the attention and allow the lyrics to become subconsciously imbedded as a result of the found symbolism hidden in each painting.I draw a highly detailed sketch which I print onto my canvas in colorfast inks and seal. I then do an acrylic wash to establish color tone, then “cut” the painting with acrylics, meaning I define the features of the work ie: hands, face, landscape, objects, fabrics etc and give the work a full foundational image and color base. After letting that dry, I seal and paint the entire image again, this time with water-soluble oil paints in which I bring the painting to life, blending colors, developing depth and highlights while creating all the fine details. After this dries, I seal it again in a protective polymer sealer, frame/edge and viola
