Medium: Blown Glass
Working alone in my studio in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, I create glass vessels that incorporate a graphic pattern composed from individual glass elements known as canes and murrine. Complex designs are composed from these canes which are cut and arranged while cold and then heated in a kiln and manipulated into a bubble where they are then blown and shaped into vessels.
Vessels have been formed from individual glass pieces for more than 4000 years.
I am inspired by patterns found in nature as well as historical example of glass and ceramic forms. My work is also influenced by my past creations while working as a pastry chef.
