Kreg Yingst

These images are inspired, in part, by medieval painting and printmaking sources such as Psalters, illuminated manuscripts, codices, Marian art, and Book Of Hours’ Prayerbooks. The subject matter references aspects of ancient story, poetry, and prayer, often times from other countries and cultures; most recently Italy, Ireland and Scotland. Through my research and travels, the world of the mystic, poet, and saint allows me the opportunity to explore aspects of devotional art using image and typography, while the woodcut allows me a slow, meditative means to transcribe it.
