Joel Anderson

In Home/Land I examine the small, remote valley where I moved as a child and later returned as an adult. Family used to joke that the valley was like the 18th century, with a small population of Pennsylvania Dutch and surnames that went back centuries. In the time between departure for college and my return as an adult the valley shifted even more out of time, with a large influx of Amish. The Home/Land photographs look at this old and somewhat odd community and how things have changed. I use medium and large format cameras and in this project am printing both silver gelatin and chromogenic photographs.
