I am a ceramic artist and my goal is to provide art that is pleasing to the eye and the heart.Current works focus on ceramic sculptures of the Cat, original, whimsical, and a tribute to the Mighty, Mystical, Marvelous Cat. The Cats begin with a lump of clay that I alter and sculpt Š—– ears, faces, and tails Š—– they all evolve as if they each have a life of their own. The birds Š—– they just showed up one day after I observed hundreds of them roosting on power lines. I could not help but imagine birds perching on the Cats, taunting, cheeping and gossiping.Surface decorations consist of low fire glazes, clay slips, and chemical fuming. Each are fired individually using a variety of low fire techniques, frequently undergoing multiple firings depending on the results desired.Committed as an artist, I continue to explore the myriad components of my craft, having only just touched the surface of possibilities. Each new work is an exciting journey that may have setbacks, will often include happy surprises, and is always worth the trip.
