The colors and textures I am able to combine through carving inspires me to create artwork that shows the beauty of the desert. It is a harsh environment with resilient plants and creatures thriving. Being a desert native I see myself as something that thrives off this harsh landscape and I can recognize how beautiful it really is. My process involves layering acrylic paint 50-80 layers thick over a course of weeks. I then carve paint away to reveal different color layers using wood carving tools. I love this process of excavating my design in the layers of paint to create texture and depth that changes as the light crosses the carving. I have had my artwork featured in Art Intersection, Western Gallery and Sunset Magazine. I have also exhibited in many art shows across the West including Cherry Creek and Beverly Hills ArtShow where I won First Place most recently in 2022.
