MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival Salutes Key Volunteers

20 Aug 2006

by: Courtney Hall

FORT WORTH, Texas (August 17, 2006) – Outstanding volunteer contributions to last spring’s MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival, the 21st in the event’s storied history, were saluted at an August 17 gathering of the festival’s Event Management Team (EMT).

The EMT consists of approximately 50 committee chairpersons and other volunteer leaders who donate significant amounts of time year-round to organizing and coordinating special events for Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives, Inc., a unit of Downtown Fort Worth, Inc. The annual EMT awards dinner was held at the Texas Cattle Raisers Museum on West Seventh Street.

Fort Worth resident Jennifer Quinn, chair of MAIN ST.’s logistics team, was recognized as the 2006 “Volunteer of the Year.” A six-year veteran of MAIN ST. and the Sundance Square Parade of Lights, Quinn has been responsible for preparing and staging both events. She has led the coordination of MAIN ST.’s complex and time-sensitive set-up and tear-down, and in following up with vendors and suppliers during the run of the festival.

In her professional life, Quinn is the IT manager for Iron Horse Motorcycles, a Fort Worth-based manufacturer of custom motorcycles. She has also worked as a volunteer on Jazz by the Boulevard and the Tarrant County AIDS Walk.

Also singled out at the EMT awards dinner was Marshall Cochrum, a recent graduate of Granbury High School who has been working with MAIN ST. for over five years. Popularly known among his MAIN ST. co-workers as someone who will, "get the job done," the annual “Forklift Award” was awarded for his “heavy lifting” behind the scenes at the MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival.
