My mixed media bird sculptures are the result of over 25 years of collecting and study. I’ve always been fascinated with birds and antiques, which led to collecting vintage decoys and bird carvings. My collection inspires my art as I try to capture the warmth and beauty of a well used and loved decoy. Recycled metals and found objects are incorporated to give each sculpture its own individuality. The use of these materials reflect the fragile balance between nature and industry. Objects that were once cast aside as useless are now the foundation for these assemblages. The birds give life to these once forgotten pieces of yesterday. We invite the observer to find the beauty and mystery that lie concealed in these familiar yet forgotten objects.
