Amy Lansburg

My work has evolved from a self-taught furniture maker, based on Lake Superior driftwood, to the mixed media figurative works that I made as a child but had no wood working skills to assemble. The driving force or inspiration behind the majority of my works is American Civil Rights and African parables. My Father was in the mining industry and traveled thought African Continent. It was not, however, until adulthood, and through my own work, that I realized I’d been raised in a racist family; and mining is the worst of what’s beef done to Africa. I never chose this as a subject matter. It simply evolved on its own as my voice.
