MAIN ST. Creates!


The area, operating during daytime hours all four days of the festival, is located at the north end of the festival between First and Second Streets in the shadow of the old Tarrant County Courthouse, and will feature two free activity tents staffed by volunteers from MAIN ST. and Van Grow: Art Studio for Kids. MAIN ST. Creates! is presented by CHASE, and is managed by Van Grow Art Studio Gallery.
The following daily activities will be offered in 2009, 10:00 am to Dusk:
Box Monsters - Create your own monster of a box using collage and recycled materials.
Hat Decorating – Create a masterpiece on top of your head! Kids will have a blast decorating their own hat to wear at the festival.
Decorate your own glasses - You'll need these to wear with your hat. Simple marker project is great for all ages!
Mosaic Mural – Join in the festival fun to help create a faux mosaic work of art by participating in our mural.
Van Grow Art Studio Gallery - The students of Van Grow will proudly display their fantastic art work in this area. Instructors will be on hand to answer any questions regarding the wonderful art programs available through Van Grow Art Studio.
About Van Grow:
Van Grow: Art Studio for Kids offers Fine Art instruction for ages 2 through adult and teaches the basics of art: drawing, painting, and sculpture plus many other creative opportunities like Dollhouse Camp, Animation Camp or junk art. Van Grow prides itself in offering original art classes to encourage creative thinking and problem solving. The studio, located in Fort Worth's Cultural District, is a festive creative space! During the school year Van Grow offers weekly art classes for ages 2-adult. During the summer and holidays the studio offers a wide variety of day camps.. Other big crowd-pleasers in MAIN ST. Creates! will include:
- Rock Wall - Upwardly mobile x-sports enthusiasts can get a grip at this popular attraction, provided this year by Climb-N-Rock.
- Face-Painting - The roar of the greasepaint will be heard again this year, courtesy of Party Faces, Inc.
- Sand-art - creating masterpieces with sand is always a great way to get a souvenir of MAIN ST.
- Henna tattoos
Free attractions:
- City of Fort Worth Public Health Department - Back this year with its own spin on "spin-the-bottle," in which children win prizes by answering questions about good dietary practices, environmental conservation and other public health issues.
- Fort Worth Public Library - Children's "book walks" and on-site issuance of library cards.
