Going Green!
The MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival, with the valuable financial assistance and sponsorship of The University of Texas ARLINGTON, is making significant strides in terms of reducing its carbon footprint, and will continue several successful “green” policies and programs aimed at reducing the amount of waste generated.
Specially marked containers will be available for attendees to recycle cans and bottles, an endeavor that many of our sponsors support and encourage.
THE GREEN SCENE
The Festival is working to become a 100% carbon neutral event thanks to the assistance of Green Mountain Energy Company, which is generously donating 89 metric tons of carbon offsets – enough to offset all of the carbon dioxide emissions generated by this year’s Festival! We also look at operations and continue to work to lessen the Festival’s environmental impact through creative recycling programs, use of biodiesel, bans on Styrofoam and plastic bags, use of biodegradable cups, plates and utensils and much more.
HOW YOU CAN DO YOUR PART
As part of our increased commitment to “going green”, we want to make it as easy as possible for all Festival attendees to do their part to help out the environment. As in previous years, our partner Green Mountain will have their booth set up at 4th and Main Streets, and will be signing people up for 100% pollution-free electricity. Switching to clean electricity is one of the easiest ways you can reduce your household’s share of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions!
Help us make a difference!

ARTISTS ARE GOING GREEN!
The MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival celebrates the beauty of all art – whether crafted by hand, by tool, by musical instrument or even by the earth itself. Together with the Festival’s Environmental Sponsor, The University of Texas at Arlington, MAIN ST. salutes those artists who use earth-friendly techniques, materials or themes in their work, such as:
- Non-toxic, non-polluting and new methods that are safer and healthier than traditional ones.
- Organic, natural, sustainable, reclaimed and/or recycled materials or fibers
- Use of solar or other renewable energy sources during production, transportation and/or presentation.
- Use of digital methodologies in creating artwork.
- Applications of ecological themes, including nature, its processes or environmental problems.
- Integration of environmental forces, such as creating artwork affected or powered by wind, water, light, etc.
- Participation in green organizations or sites generally concerned with the issues of art and the environment.
Take a moment and review your own world, and let us know if you indeed use one or all of the above methods in your work. We will recognize all "Green" artists with the green fingerprint at each artist’s booth.
The MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival showcases a juried art fair, savory food, live concerts, performance artists and street performers!
